Monitor day-one release performance with New Release Insights

Get a first look at how fans are responding to your new release and compare its performance to past releases. Now available on both Apple Music for Artists on the web and in the app, New Release Insights provides same-day data as your music hits Apple Music.

Prepare for your new release

Ahead of your new release, you’ll see a module at the top of Measure in Apple Music for Artists reminding you to share the news with your fans. Help generate excitement about your upcoming release by keeping your artist image fresh and up to date. Learn more about how to add an artist image and review our artist image guidelines.

View your release performance

On the day of your release, navigate to the Overview section of Measure to quickly see your release-week details, such as total plays from your album, top-played song, and your top-played city for plays earned during that release week.

Select the New Release Insights module to get detailed release-week performance data for your album, individual tracks, as well as comparative data across your catalog. Within the Albums section, click Select Albums to see how your new release performs in its first week compared to the first week of a previous album. The Songs section shows how the tracks in your new release are performing during their first week. Click Select Songs to compare first-week performance with other songs previously released.

Your New Release Insights detail page also lists your album’s top-played songs, top countries/regions, and top cities. Select any of your songs or albums, then select View Release Week Details to see release-week data any time after your initial seven-day release window. Note, we do not have New Release Insight data for releases prior to June 2015.

New data can take up to eight hours to populate in your profile and data is subject to change once final play data is processed and reported. Note, any plays accrued outside of your album’s release week, such as plays associated to instant gratification tracks available before the release of your album, do not count toward your release week insights. To ensure New Release Insights is available to you on release day, work with your content provider to confirm your new music is mapped to the appropriate artist page at least 10 days prior to its release.

Song and listener trends across your entire catalog

While you can use New Release Insights for a snapshot of your release week performance, go to the Trends page in Measure to get granular performance data about your release. Trends gives you detailed data across all of your content by listener location, demographic, and more. Learn more about how to see your stats and trends.
