Introducing Apple Music City Charts

In 2018, we introduced Daily Top 100 charts spanning more than 115 countries and regions. These charts reflect the most popular songs on Apple Music in countries and regions around the world. Since their debut, Daily Top 100s have charted:

  • More than 4,000 No. 1 hit songs
  • Over 2,200 artists
  • More than 130 genres

Daily Top 100 chart playlists are also some of the most streamed playlist categories on Apple Music.

In 2019, we introduced the Shazam Discovery Top 50 chart on Apple Music. Powered by Shazam, the chart features up-and-coming songs from new artists, offering a unique look at songs breaking into the mainstream. Since its debut, over 225 songs that appeared on Shazam Discovery Top 50 have gone on to enter the Top 10 on one or more Daily Top 100 charts, with 75 songs hitting No. 1.

Now, we’re introducing new charts featuring the top songs in over 100 cities around the world. These new daily charts spotlight the top 25 songs making waves locally. Each chart uses a combination of plays and local popularity to rank songs within a city. What you get is charts that bring local artists to the forefront of the conversation around music discovery.

From Paris, to Tokyo, and everywhere in between, each city chart reflects what’s popular. These cities represent many of the world’s largest and most culturally significant music markets. And each city chart complements the country-level Daily Top 100 by reflecting the diverse musical tastes of listeners within a country or region.

You’ll find our new city charts on the Browse, Search, and Charts pages on Apple Music. Each city chart is available as a playlist, so you can add your favorite cities to your Apple Music library. Or simply ask Siri to play a city chart by saying, ”Hey Siri, play the Top 25: Los Angeles.”
